Restricting the Days on which an Options Block can run:
Q. For next year's timetable, our Year 10 students will go off to do their diplomas on a Wednesday. Not all year 10s will do diplomas. The ones that don't do diplomas will do their "option 2 and 3 " lessons on that Wednesday.
I initially set up TimeTabler to "fix" options 2 and 3 onto that Wednesday but when doing "FIT" moves it is clearly a bit restricting.
What I want to do is "fix" options 2 and 3 to the Wednesday but to allow them to move periods within that day if required. Is that possible?
A. You just need to use Special Resources to tell TimeTabler what is not possible.
-- Enter 2 Special Resources on the Special Resources Screen.
Called, for example,
op2
op3
-- Then add the relevant one to each of the teams [if you've already assigned them than you'll have to Unassign them first (see F16)].
So the team for Options 2 looks something like :
10ABC SSS T1 T2 T3 T4 op2
where T1, T2 etc are replaced by the initials of the actual staff, and op2 is a kind of dummy teacher, piggy-backing on the team.
-- Then before scheduling it you go to the Staff Timetable Screen (see F12)
[or you could go to the Staff Availability Screen if you haven't yet started the schedule]
and on that screen, at the bottom, find this Special Resource (op2) and use your mouse to click to block off all periods for it except Wednesday.
-- So:
op2 can only 'teach' on a Wednesday.
Therefore any team containing op2 can only teach on a Wednesday ...but at any time on a Wednesday.
-- Ditto for op3.
