Shared Resources (between schools)

Sharing Resources

If you are a MAT**, Consortium, Federation, or other Group of schools, you may share resources between schools.

We have many MATs or School-Groups who use TimeTabler … so it is common to have a group of schools who all use TimeTabler and share resources at certain times of the school week.   Similarly, many schools have specific times of the week when they use a local facility (eg: a local leisure centre, or college).

What is usually required, is for a Year (or a number of Classes) of students to be marked at being at the leisure centre on Weds afternoon (say). Sometimes one or more teachers go with them.

These cases are often dealt-with by using ‘fixed-points’ ** which are discussed in detail in the printed Manual and in the help-files, and briefly here: fixed points.
**Note: there are several ways of arranging this, but the simplest way is often the best – and using “fixed-points” is - for most Groups - the simplest.

Note:   ** What is a MAT (multi-academy trust) ?
If your school is outside England, you may not know.  An academy is an independent state-funded school whose funding comes straight from central government (DfE) instead of from a local authority.  A multi-academy trust (MAT) is a group of academies in partnership with one another.
