Doing a 'nine-and-a-half' timetable

Starting the 2-year GCSE courses in the summer term of Year 9
(sometimes called a 'nine-and-a-half' timetable)

Many schools wish to re-vamp the timetable from early June onwards, so that Year 9 can start their GCSE courses.

There are 2 ways to approach it:

1    Start and complete the new timetable for the new year by early June and implement it.
This may be difficult if new staff are not appointed until late!

or

2    Revamp just the timetable for Year 9, using the staff from (the now non-existent) Year 11 as necessary, and aiming to leave Year 10 (and the other years) untouched.
This is a temporary timetable to run from June until the end of term.
You can schedule it much earlier in the year, in preparation, because it is using only your existing staff.

To do this:
-- Make Backups of the timetable,
-- Unassign all the Year 9 and Year 11 lessons (on the Class Timetable Screen, use the Right-click menu),
-- Enter a new Batch for the new Year 9 curriculum,
-- Assign these activities.
If you want to use 'Auto' then you would need to Lock all the other activities first ...'Semi-Auto' would be a better method, so you just need to weigh up any FIT solutions that are offered/needed.
For more detail of how to do this, see this article.
