Email Authentication
Q. We have problems trying to configure StaffCover to authenticate to an SMTP server in order to send emails to staff ... our staff cover emails are being dumped into junk email.
A. There are three ways that schools usually handle this:
School 1 (the usual way):
Go to "Customize -> Emailing colleagues -> Email setup for cover-slips".
Then click "Advanced Settings" and choose the "Type" you require, and then enter your username and password.
School 2:
We entered the server password within the "User name:", like this:
-- if our "User name:" is like this: user@host.com
-- then to pass a password to our server, we entered our "User name:" like this: user:password@host.com
School 3:
"Using my password as the username sorted the email problem."
