Finding / Restoring missing Data in Options

If you get a message like:
TT-Options cannot open file C:\OPTwin\Data\SUB1.OPT
then it is because a key file is missing.

All the Options data is stored in a folder called ‘data’ within the folder where you chose to install Options [by default this is at C:\OPTwin ]

Possible solutions:

1-- Do you have a (recent) Backup that you made by using FileMenu->OPT-Backup
eg. on a USB-memorystick, or elsewhere on your hard drive, or on the network.
If so then you can use FileMenu->OPT-Restore to load that data in again.
[We recommend that you always make Backups of key stages …you can’t be too paranoid near computers.]

2-- Check also the regular Backups you should/may have made in the AutoBackup Library ?   (Go to "File -> Auto-Backup Library").

3-- If not, do you have the data installed on another machine, eg at home?
If so, make a Backup there and Restore it on the current machine.

4-- If you are connected to a network, is it possible that the network automatically backed up the ‘data’ folder …but will it have the correct backup of full data?

5-- If it's a specific names file which is missing, then you could try searching the whole hard disc / network for this missing file [and all the others with a file extension of .opt] in case they have somehow been shifted to another location.

Alternatively, you can go back to an earlier time, when the file was not missing by one of these methods:

6-- Restore an earlier Backup file, using "File -> OPT-Restore"

7-- Move the contents of the folder "C:\OPTwin\Backup" over to "C:\OPTwin\Data" **

** Before trying this method, please check with the Support Centre.
