Finding / Restoring missing Data in TimeTabler

If you get a message like:
TimeTabler cannot open file C:\TT4win\Data\ACT1.TT4
then it is because a key file is missing.

All the TimeTabler data is stored in a folder called ‘data’ within the folder where you chose to install TimeTabler [by default this is at C:\TT4win ]

Possible solutions:

1-- Do you have a (recent) Backup that you made by using FileMenu->TT-Backup ?
eg. on a USB-memorystick, or elsewhere on your hard drive, or on the network.
If so then you can use FileMenu->TT-Restore to load that data in again.
[We recommend that you always make Backups of key stages …you can’t be too paranoid near computers.]
[You should also make regular Backups in the AutoBackup Library.]

2-- Check also the regular Backups you should/may have made in the AutoBackup Library ?   (Go to "File -> Auto-Backup Library").

3-- If not, do you have the data installed on another machine, eg at home?
If so, make a Backup there and Restore it on the current machine.

4-- If you are connected to a network, is it possible that the network automatically backed up the ‘data’ folder …but will it have the correct backup of full data?

5-- You could try searching the whole hard disc / network for this missing file [and all the others with a file extension of .tt4] in case they have somehow been shifted to another location.

Alternatively, you can go back to an earlier time, when the file was not missing by one of these methods:

6-- Restore an earlier Backup file, using "File -> TT-Restore"

7**-- Move the contents of the folder "C:\TT4Win\Backup" over to "C:\TT4Win\Data"

8**-- Look in the folder “C:\TT4Win\RestorePt” … this contains copies of your data from just before each time you have previously restored a Backup.  You can look in “RestorePt” for a relevant file (a file starting “TT_170915…” means it is a copy of your data from 15/9/17, etc).     If you do want to restore a file from the “RestorePt” folder, then the best way is just to copy the file you want onto a USB-pen-drive (say), rename it to the standard name for a Backup file (“TT4Data.Bak”) - and then “File -> TT-Restore” it in the usual way.   See also the article in this KnowledgeBase, by searching on 'RestorePt'.

** Before trying either of these methods, please check with the Support Centre.
