'Restore Points' can be useful if you wish to restore old data and can't find a Backup file:
Overview
'Restore Points' is a feature in TimeTabler that aims to offer you more protection against you accidentally overwriting your data or losing Backups.
If you have lost your data this feature may enable you to get it back.
How it works
Every time you Restore a Backup file, TimeTabler saves a copy of your current data in a 'RestorePt' folder at: C:\TT4Win\RestorePt\TT_yymmdd_HHMM_name.Bak **
… where yymmdd HHMM = today’s date & time, and 'name' is the first 6 letters of your school name.
**assuming you installed TimeTabler in the default folder of C:\TT4Win
For example, a file saved at 14:35 on 23/7/16 by “St.John’s School” would be saved in your 'RestorePt' folder as: TT_160723_1435_St.Joh.Bak
How to Restore, if you need to
If you need to restore this file, or see what it contains (either on your own PC, or on the school’s), then you can rename it as TT4Data.Bak and then restore in the usual way, via "File -> TT-Restore".
Other ways to recover old data:
1- Look/search for a Backup file (on one of your USB memory-sticks, or elsewhere) - the Backup file will be called TT4Data.Bak.
2- Look through your Auto-Backup Library (found on the 'File' menu in TimeTabler).
3- If you recently sent us a Backup of your data (to the Support Centre) we can look for it on there.
If you can't find a helpful file through these methods, then you can try:
4- Do you have the data installed on another machine, eg at home? If so, make a Backup there and Restore it on the current machine.
5- If you are connected to a network, is it possible that the network automatically backed up the ‘data’ folder … but will it have the correct backup of full data?
