Earlier Backup files
There may be times when you wish to - or our Team asks you to - locate a Backup file from an earlier date or time. If this happens, here are places where you may find an earlier Backup file:
(Note: the below refers to TimeTabler but the same is true for our other software; Options & StaffCover).
1- Do you have a (recent) Backup file that you made by using File->TT-Backup ?
If you are not sure where it is, look/search for this Backup file (on one of your USB memory-sticks, an external drive, elsewhere on your hard-disc, on your network, or elsewhere) - the Backup file will be called TT4Data.Bak.
[We recommend that you always make Backups of key stages … you can’t be too paranoid near computers.] [You should also make regular Backups in the AutoBackup Library.]
2- Look through the regular Backups / Archives you may/should have made in your Auto-Backup Library (go to "File->Auto-Backup Library").
3- If you recently sent us a Backup of your data (to the Support Centre) we can look for it on there.
4- Check your Restore Points - see the article in this KnowledgeBase.
If you can't find a helpful file through these methods, then you can try the following:
5- Do you have another copy of TimeTabler installed on a different computer, for example: at home? If so, make a Backup there.
6- If you are connected to a network, is it possible that the network automatically backed up the TT folder (if so, all the important data is in the ‘Data’ subfolder) … although you will need to check: does it have the correct backup of full data ?
7- If you can't find a Backup file in any of the above places, let us know.
Restoring the Backup file
-- If our Team has asked you for the Backup file, just send it to us (on the Support Centre).
-- Or if you have chosen to locate the Backup file yourself in order to "go back in time", then you can Restore it using via "File->TT-Restore" (or see the article on Restoring in this KnowledgeBase).
