DayBlocking

How do I ensure that two activities (eg. Games and PE) are placed on different days ?

In TimeTabler we call this 'DayBlocking'.    There are 3 possible ways to specify 'DayBlocking':

1  Lessons from the same activity are automatically Day-Blocked for you.
So if you enter: 7A  Maths   SSSS   CJo   ...then the 4 singles of Maths will be placed on 4 separate days (with teacher CJo).   [Unless you choose to over-rule it manually**].

2  You can enter the same DayBlock code against 2 (or more) different activities.
All activities with a DayBlock code of '1' (say) in Year 8 (say) will be placed on separate days.
The DayBlock code is entered in a box in the Wizard.
Make sure that you use a different DayBlock code for each group of activities that you wish to DayBlock against each other, or else you may make the schedule unnecessarily difficult.  You can run reports to review your DayBlocking.

3  You can use 'Subject Day-Blocking' (in the global rules) to say that (for example) Games and PE must be on different days.
To do this, go to Customize -> Timetabling Rules Panel -> Subject Day-Blocking, click 'New' and choose 'Games' and 'PE, and specify which Year/Grade.

Notes:
-- 1) Day-Blocking only applies if the classes for the two activities are also interlocked.  For example, if you Day-Blocked French & Spanish for class 7A, then a Spanish class for 7A would be allowed on the same say as a French class for 7B, or one for 7C, etc.   But you couldn’t have 7A French and 7A Spanish lessons on the same day, nor 7A French and 7ABCD (say) Spanish.

-- 2) ** You can always manually over-ride Day-Blocking if you wish/need to, and place the lessons on the same day - but you will be warned to make sure you really mean it.
