The 'Unavailability Factor' (UF)
On the Curriculum Diagram, you can choose to display the "UF" for each Activity, by selecting the option under the "PT" (Part-Timers) button (bottom-left of screen).
This shows the Unavailability Factor (UF) for each of your Activities; a crude indication of how much effect part-timers may have on this Activity. It is colour-coded like this:
Red = high UF
Blue = quite high UF
Yellow = low or medium UF
Green = zero UF
Example: UF low (2) means that the UF of this activity is low and there are 2 part-timers in its teacher-team.
Note-1: You must mark your Part-timers so that TimeTabler knows who they are. Do this on the Staff Availability screen.
Note-2: The effect in Blocks will tend to be higher than in Pure Class Activities.
How is the UF calculated ? For each teacher in this Activity's teacher-team, for each period in the week, a score is totalled depending on how unavailable the teacher is.
If the teacher is completely available, the score is zero.
If s/he has 'X' unavailability (not available) in this period, the score is 1. Other types of unavailability (F,f,P,A,etc) score between 0 and 1.
This is totalled for all the teachers in the team, and rounded-up to the nearest integer, to give the UF.
You can see the actual UF score for an activity, if you right-click on the activity, and choose 'Teacher Team (U)Availability' (as well as other information, such as the Activity's 'Flexibility percentage').
But before then, the Curriculum Diagram shows you a summary (using the colour-coding above) of each activity's UF ... so you should concentrate on investigating those activities most likely to be difficult to assign, due to their part-timers (ie. those in Red or Blue ).
