Creating a timetable for 2 or more separate schools
Q I am the main timetabler for 2 different schools; what is the best way to manage this ?
A There are three ways you could handle this, to keep the two schools' timetables separate:
1 If you have 2 separate PCs or laptops, you could keep one computer exclusively for each school.
Or:
2 You can install your second school’s copy of TimeTabler into a different folder on your computer, so you do not overwrite the earlier-installed version.
To do this, when you are asked (during installation) to confirm that the installation/destination folder is "C:\TT4Win", edit the folder name to be something like "C:\TT4Win-School2".
If you then want to be able to access either version from your desktop, then you will need to manually create a shortcut to your first-installed version, as the "TimeTabler" desktop shortcut that we provide, will point to the last-installed copy.
Then you have 2 separate copies of TimeTabler on your (single) computer, allowing you to move between the two, while keeping all the data separate.
Or:
3 Another alternative, is that you could install TimeTabler once, and then just keep backing-up / restoring the correct school’s data as you need it … but if you ever accidentally restored school-2 before you had backed-up school-1, then you would lose the recent work you had done on school-1. So this method requires some care and discipline.
Notes:
-- If you use method 1 or 2 and at some point, you run “Check for Updates” to install an update to TimeTabler, you will want to run the update installer (called Setup.EXE) twice – once for each copy of TimeTabler.
-- You will normally need to purchase a Licence for each school. Contact us if you have any queries about this.
