When updating from Options 4.607 to 4.608 a failure is likely to occur, the auto-updater will complain that a parameter "--data-dir" is missing.
To check your current version, open Options and go to Help > About Options.
You will need to download the Update Helper by following these steps:
1. Download the Update Helper
Right-click the link below, then choose Save link as… (Chrome / Edge), Save Link As… (Firefox), or Download Linked File As… (Safari).
Link: Options-4.608-update.bat
Save the file and keep the name Options-4.608-update.bat. Direct link: https://www.timetabler.com/upgrades/OP8r-2026/Options-4.608-update.bat
Note: Do not left-click the link — many browsers will open the .bat file as plain text instead of downloading it.
2. Save the Update Helper in your Options installation folder
Put the downloaded .bat file in the same folder as TTOpt.exe and TTAutoUp.exe.
- Default location: C:\OPTWin
- If Options is installed somewhere else, use that folder instead.
Your school data folder Data should sit next to those programs (for example C:\OPTWin\Data).
3. Run the Helper
- Make sure Options is closed.
- Double-click
Options-4.608-update.bat. - If Windows asks whether to allow the app, choose to run it.
- Press a key when prompted to continue.
- Wait for the Updater to finish.
- When you open Options It should now be on version 4.608. You can check this by going to Help > About Options.
Possible Issues:
- “TTAutoUp.exe not found” — the
.batis not in the Options install folder. Move it next toTTOpt.exeand try again. - “Data folder not found” — Options expects a Data folder beside the programs. Open Options once normally so your data path is set, or contact support if you use a non-standard data location.
- Still stuck — install with the full setup instead. Use the download link from your recent renewal or purchase. If you can't find that email contact ttorders@timetabler.com.
