HelpScreens not showing
Q The HelpScreens are not displaying when I am connected to the Network / 'Help' button is not working - what can I do ?
A Our interactive HelpScreens work in all versions of Windows [as long as you have a Browser, such as Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome, etc].
If a .chm Help file is not displaying the Help Screens when you click on the Help button then it probably means:
-- your copy of TimeTabler (or Options, or StaffCover) is installed on a network, and so
-- the .chm files are not on your local machine.
Reason: Microsoft have restricted a chm Help file opening across a network; they want it to be local to your machine.
Solution 1:
You need to [get your IT Manager to] install a copy of the .chm files locally.
For TimeTabler there are 3 of them :
TT-Help.chm
Tutorial.chm
TT-HelponHelp.chm
and they are normally in the Help folder where TimeTabler has been installed.
The first one is the important one ...with lots of info about TimeTabler.
The corresponding files for Options are:
OPT-Help.chm
OPT-Tutor.chm
OPT-HelponHelp.chm
and they are normally in the Help folder where Options has been installed.
For StaffCover the files are:
SC-Help.chm
CovTutor.chm
SC-HelponHelp.chm
and they are normally in the Help folder where StaffCover has been installed.
Solution 2:
1. Open Internet Explorer and click Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click the Security tab.
3. Click Trusted Sites.
4. Click Default Level.
5. Set the Allowed levels for this zone to Low.
6. Click Sites.
7. Type the path to the server where the CHM files are. Eg: if the server computer name is server1, type \\server1 and click Add. You could also add the name of the domain.
8. Click Close.
9. Click OK on the Internet Properties dialog.
Close Internet Explorer and you’re done.
You should now be able to view the content of CHM files when you open them.
If this doesn't help, don't worry: you can get a lot of Help from the HelpMovies and in all the ways described here: www.timetabler.com/help .
