'Edit' button at scheduling

How to use the "Edit" button to edit the selected outstanding Activity
(on the Visual Builder screen)

Question:
I want to change an activity while I am scheduling.  ie. after I have loaded the batch into the schedule, but before I assign all of its lessons to the Schedule.
How can I do this, and what are the consequences ?

Answer:

1     You can click the 'Edit' button at the top-left of the Visual Builder Screen:
You can make most changes by using the Edit button [at the top-left of the scheduling screen, second button from the left] without leaving the scheduling screen. Such changes are made (and saved) in the Batch.

Using this button you can change:  unscheduled periods [eg. D->SS], set numbers, block label, etc.
However you can only change existing Staff [ie. add a teacher, remove a teacher, change a teacher] for the activity if you Unassign all lessons of the activity first.  If you don’t Unassign all the lessons then you are likely to get unusual/wrong results [you are warned about this].

  2     Other ways:
There are several other ways to edit activities at scheduling - click here to see.

A rare possibility:
Occasionally you might want to split a Double-period activity into 2 Singles with different staff for each Single. ie. deliberate split-teaching.  In such rare cases it is recommended that you Unassign all lessons of that activity (if they have already been placed), then exit from the schedule and go to the Batch to make the changes.
To split an activity in the Batch use:  'Right-click Menu -> Split this activity'.

More options:
If you go into the Staff Timetable (or Class Timetable, or Room Timetable) views at scheduling, there are many other editing options, if you right-click on the timetable.
