Two copies on one Computer
If you need to, you can install 2 (separate) copies of TimeTabler on one computer. The only reason to need / want to do this, is if you have 2 sets of completely different data (different staff, etc ... for example: one might be for an earlier year) which you wish to keep entirely separate.
To do this:
- 1) run the installer to install TimeTabler in the usual way. By default, it will be installed into the folder "C:\TT4Win".
- 2) run the installer again, but this time, when asked for the "Destination Folder", choose a different folder, for example: "C:\TT4-two".
After each installation make sure you have a "TT" shortcut to that installation. ie. you should have 2 separate "TT" shortcuts on your desktop. You need one to have a target of "C:\TT4Win\TT4W.exe", and the other to have a target of "C:\TT4Win-two\TT4W.exe" (in this example).
You will now have 2 separate installations of TimeTabler on your computer.
When you run one, it will only affect the data for that installation.
If you wish to transfer the timetable data from one of those installations to another machine, take care to use the correct installation. The process is described here.
Notes:
-- a) You can do a similar process with our other software; Options and StaffCover.
-- b) When (from time to time) you use the "Check for Updates" button to update yourself to the latest version of TimeTabler, you will again be asked which "Destination Folder" you wish to update. So to update both your copies, you should run "Check for Updates" twice, with the correct "Destination Folder" each time.
-- c) Note that an alternative way to deal with 2 or more differnet 'universes' (eg: different scenarios for your school, or perhaps different schools that you are working on) is to only install TimeTabler once, but then keep different Backup files and Backup and Restore them as needed / to move between the different scenarios or schools.
