Activities that go across a whole Year
Q I have Classes and Activities that go right across my Year 7. Similarly for Years 8-11. Is there a quick way to specify them, rather than having to use long Class scheduling names like 7ABCDEFG, etc ?
A Yes: you can put “!” (an exclamation mark) after a year (in the Class scheduling name) as a shorthand to mean “the whole year”, so you could have Classes called:
7!
8!
9!
10!
11!
Then to represent a Games lesson (for eg) that goes right across Year 9, you enter an Activity like this:
9! D Ga1 Ga2 Ga3 (a double-period of Games across Year 9 with 3 Teachers)
Shorthand for a long Class Name
If you wish to avoid long Class Scheduling Names, then you can represent a range of consecutive forms / groups by following the year by the first form, then a dash (-), then the last form.
Some examples:
7A-D is the same as 7ABCD
3R-Z is the same as 3RSTUVWXYZ
10F-L is the same as 10FGHIJKL
This means that 7A-D will clash with (cannot be on at the same time as) 7A or 7B or 7C or 7D or similar.
