If you are moving to TimeTabler from Nova-T, you will find that some of the terminology is different.
If you can't find or recognise something in TimeTabler that you used in Nova, then please:
- a) read this article about moving from Nova: click here.
- b) note some of these common differences that timetablers often ask us about:
Phrase/Term in Nova | Equivalent in TimeTabler |
Class | Is a Teaching Group (TG) in TimeTabler (ie: "a group of students taught the same subject together") |
Band | This will typically be represented by a 'composite class' (eg: 9ABCD) - if unsure how to do this, please ask. |
Facility | These 'limited resources' are often represented by Special Resources in TimeTabler (or there are other ways, too - see the Worked Examples in the Manual or ask). |
Linear groups | These are called 'Pure class activities' in TimeTabler. A 'pure class' is something like 7A or 9C. As opposed to a 'composite class' (eg: 7ABCD or 9CD). When the whole of 7A (say) go to History, Geography, French, etc., these are called 'pure class activities'. (As opposed to 'Block activities', like setted Maths, or Option Blocks) |
- c) if you can't find the answer, please ask us on the Support Centre. Our Team includes people who write timetables in both Nova and TimeTabler, and have used Nova in their own school in the past, so we will be able to help and advise.
